Performance & Profit Improvements for Fresh Produce Businesses

inventory control red sealProduce Inventory Control System (PICS) software effectively handles all the detailed day to day inventory needs of companies who sell or would like to sell more fresh fruits and vegetables locally and abroad.

We are continually working to ensure PICS software meets the requirements of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) created by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) latest Safe Food for Canadians Act (SFCA) regulations which demand importers of food maintain accurate traceability and third party/auditor certification information. Here are the PICS software updates made during August. We have:

  • Adjusted adjusted the inventory count routines to handle inactive stock items. Previously, they were excluded from the process. Ideally, before you inactivate a stock item, you should adjust its qty to zero. However, in the event that you have inactive stock items with a qty on hand, you can now adjust them via the inventory count process. Please also note that if their qty on hand is negative when the generate is run, the “counted qty” will be set to zero.
  • Enhanced the sales order printing system to allow sales orders to be printed via PICSVFP. We have had some customers get NTVDM.EXE errors which we were not able to stop using conventional methods. Therefore, we have worked around that problem by having PICS call PICSVFP (which is not a 16 bit program) and print the sales orders from there. Note that this option has been in PICS for many years already for the account sales report.
  • Enhanced the Sales Order Confirmation via EmFx to send the Customer # and Ship To # in the subject and body; to put the full Sold To and Ship To name in the body, and to indicate if the sales order was being added, edited or being viewed.
  • Added an Alt-X keyboard shortcut to the “Load XRef” button on the AP Voucher screen.
