Updates to Produce Inventory Control and Tracking Software

The Technical Team at WaudWare continues improving Produce Inventory Control System (PICS) software and the web-based version, called “WebPICS” created specifically for the fresh fruit and vegetable industry.

We are continually working to ensure PICS software meets the requirements of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) created by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) latest Safe Food for Canadians Act (SFCA) regulations which demand importers of food maintain accurate traceability and third party/auditor certification information. Here are the software updates made during December.

  • Added a hot key on the payment button of the AP Voucher screen. You can now press Alt-Y to open it.
  • Added a new function to the General Ledger where you can post journals “en masse”.
  • Enhanced the GL Transaction screen such that you cannot delete or reverse transactions which contain a control account.
  • Enhanced stock label printing such that labels printed from Work Orders for static lots will now have the information from the work order they were printed from, instead of the most recent work order for the lot.
  • Added a new system control which allows you to show or hide the vendor price, extension and total on Purchase Orders.
  • Added code to prevent deleting an AR Receipt if it is on a posted deposit. Receipts can now only be deleted if they are either not on a deposit, or if the deposit they are in is un-posted.
  • Added a new menu option to Utilities\Special Utilities Menu. It is called Update On Order Qty. It is there so you can run the fixup program to take items off order which are not going to be coming.
  • Added a new system control to allow the variance report from the inventory count update to write out to an XLS file. The system control is in the Inventory section, and is called “Folder For Inventory Variance xls files”. If it is filled with a valid folder name, the variance data will be written to that folder in a YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS-Stock-Variance.xls format.
  • Added the Work Order Posted date and Tracked unit to the information which can be printed on stock labels. The new fields are bcwopdate and bctu respectively.
