These include the sanitary and phytosanitary chapter as well as the agriculture chapter and specific provisions relating to biotechnology. We have been working closely with Canadian negotiators and partners in NAFTA countries to advance the industry\u2019s interests and ensure that our integrated supply chains remain protected. Further work is being done on the seasonality provision introduced by the United States, a key concern for much of industry. We will continue to engage in negotiations and communicate any advancements with members.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Seat at the Table \u2013 Taking a Closer look at the NAFTA Negotiations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the latest round of NAFTA negotiations concluding in Montreal we\u2019re connecting with the CPMA team that was there on behalf of the produce industry.<\/p>\n<p>Troy Sherman, the CPMA Manager, Policy lets us in on what it\u2019s like to be at the negotiations, what the role of the CPMA is at the table, and why it is important for CPMA and other association to be there and available. <a href=\"https:\/\/elearning.cpma.ca\/moodleEN\/repository\/podcast\/55_NAFTA\/55_CPMA_And_NAFTA.mp3\">Download the Podcast<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>CPTPP Deal Reached<\/h3>\n<p>On January 23rd, 2018, the Government of Canada announced its intention to sign the new Comprehensive and Progress Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in March of this year. We are pleased with this development as it will increase market access to key emerging economies in the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan.
