Helping Hands Initiative

While serving as President of the Brampton Board of Trade, F. Charles Waud was invited to tour the Ste. Louise Outreach Centre. He was heartbroken to see how many families relied on the centre. Of greatest need: fresh produce and baby food. Wanting to help, Charles reached out to Mike Fronte at Mike & Mike’s, and launched the Helping Hands Initiative. It ran successfully from 2015 to 2018, temporarily pausing when WaudWare relocated to Kincardine, Ontario.

After settling into the new community, Charles revived the community initiative. Local Food Bank representatives explained that smaller area food banks were supplied through The Salvation Army Owen Sound, so Charles searched for a regional produce partner. He found Ralph Pitt Produce and connected with Steve Pitt, who agreed to continue the same model they used in Brampton. The program has been running successfully in Kincardine since December 2019. We are thankful and proud for everyone’s support. If you would like to get involved, contact F. Charles Waud.
