The Technical Team at WaudWare continues improving Produce Inventory Control System (PICS) software and the web-based version of PICS called “WebPICS” written and maintained specifically for the produce industry. Here are the software updates made in March.
WebPICS Software Updates
We have enhanced WebPICS such that it now takes advantage of certain keywords in the Apple iOS operating system to display web pages better on iPhones, iPads and iPad mini devices. Further, we have provided the ability for system administrators to be able to configure these options. The system can be set to be optimized for portrait or landscape orientation, and the number of rows in the lists can be configured. This all makes working on (Apple) mobile devices much easier.
PICS Software Updates
- Enhanced the PO/Receiving Screen and the Purchase Order screen such that you can now use the Find Function (CTRL-F) to find a purchase order by number. This can be quite a bit faster than popping the list.
- Enhanced the Purchase Order screen to be faster by making sure it opens all the tables it needs at the beginning and closing them all at the end, instead of on a “as needed” basis.
- Added a thermometer bar to the Count Sheet report generation program, so you can tell more easily how long it will be until it is finished generating the data for the report.
- Adjusted the Stock History system such that records for receipts of inventory items will have a time received of 00:00 if the user changes the date received to a date other than the current date.
- Added a customer link button to the AR Vouchers screen.
- Added a stock # and lot # link to the storage unit screen.
- Resolved a bug found in the AR Receipts filter screen where pressing escape under certain conditions could cause the system to become “frozen”.
- Enhanced the Stock Lot screen such that it now displays the PO Line notes. So for regular lots which were received on purchase orders, you can now see the notes either on the PO by selecting the line, or on the stock lot screen.
- Changed the Create AR Function such that it no longer closes the sales order batch when you invoice a sales order … even if the sales order was the only open one in the batch.
- Adjusted the code in the stock items and stock lot screens such that the quantity available shown in the list is also affected by the “include PO in available” system control and checkbox.
- Expanded the traceability section of the stock lot screen to show the PO reference, load vendor and load vendor name.
- Enhanced the Purchase Order/Receiving (original) and Purchase Order (new) screens such that when you duplicate a Purchase Order, the lines will now be duplicated as well.
- Added the ability to export stock and lot data from a Purchase Order to a file which can be used by a 3rd party printing system. For example, if you want to supply a packaging company with this data, they can use it to print labels to go on the production they pack for you. Note that the file format will need to be customized to the specifications of the company using it, so please let us know if you need this, and we can adjust it to meet your (their) needs.
- Enhanced the PICS help system such that if the system control containing the path to the folder where Java.exe is located does not result in the file being found, a message will be displayed. This makes it much easier to diagnose problems when configuring PICS to use the PICSHELP.JAR file.
- Added the ability to set up a Work Center in the Stock Item’s Production settings.
