Strengthening Canada’s Food Safety System
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is committed to strengthening Canada’s world-class food safety system. This includes fully bringing into force the Safe Food for Canadians Act (SFCA) through new regulations—the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations.
The Safe Food for Canadians Act (SFCA) became law in November 2012. Since then, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has consulted widely with industry stakeholders on an approach to consolidate the current food regulations into a single set of regulations.
