Are you still trying to run your perishable produce operation with two software packages – one for inventory and the other for traceability? There is a better way. We created Produce Inventory Control System (PICS) software in 1989 – for businesses like yours – growing, evolving, improving.
6 important features of PICS – ERP software built for the entire fresh produce supply chain
- Total traceability from field to customer
- Real-time inventory you can trust
- Buy, sell and price with confidence
- Streamlined operations and logistics
- Intelligent reporting and forecasting
- Ongoing updates and enhancements, like these…
Recent PICS software updates
- The Last Numbers screen is now finished in PICS 3.0. You can use it to set the last number for several different transaction types in PICS.
- We have added a temporary restriction on changing the last number value for entities in PICS. If you change the last number for something, please be aware that the new sequence you use must be higher than the previous sequence. We currently do not support changing the last number to be in a range which is lower than the previous last number. For example, it is ok to go from 200,001 to 400,001 but not to go from 400,001 to 200,001. When the next PICS build is installed, the numbering of any items which were changed like this in the past will change to the higher range. This change is necessary as we make the final changes to PICS 3.0, and work towards divorcing it from PICS 2.5. Once that is done, this restriction will be removed.
We’ve added two optional enhancements to PICS software that make posting customer payments faster and easier.
- Automatic Posted Deposits: PICS can now automatically create a posted deposit when you save customer payments.
- Automatic Payment Amount: When there’s only one outstanding invoice, PICS will automatically fill in the payment amount for you.
Fewer keystrokes. Less manual entry. Faster payment processing. What’s not to love about that! If you do a lot of one-off receipts or deposits, we suggest you enable both options. Have questions? We’re here to help!
- Enhanced Sales Order Label printing such that you can have custom layouts by customer, and you can set up the layout in the customer record, so PICS will automatically print the correct one.
- Enhanced Variety screen such that you can now change the category a variety belongs to. Also enhanced the variety list to show the category description.

Wondering how much PICS software costs?
The monthly subscription fee for a Single User, PICS software, updates and hosting on a dedicated server is $288/month and around $150/additional user. Implementation and training costs are extra. Supporting and celebrating small businesses

October is Small Business Month, and we’d like to support and celebrate ALL the businesses that make our community thrive!
Let us tell your story!
We’d love to create a profile of your small business, what you do, what makes you different/unique, and the people behind it. It’s a great opportunity to introduce your business to a wider audience and gain some extra exposure — at no cost.
Get started by answering these questions (all or a few):
- What you do, the markets you serve, and what makes you different?
- How your business got started: the year, the vision, your mission, etc.
- What has been your biggest challenge as a small business—and what have you learned from it?
- Are there any new products or services you would like us to mention?
- How can people learn more or get in touch with you? (website, social media, phone number).
Send your answers along with your logo and we’ll profile your business in an upcoming blog!
