CPMA makes recommendations for Federal Budget 2026

Last month, “CPMA submitted comments to the Department of Finance Canada’s consultation in advance of Federal Budget 2026, outlining 20 recommendations for government action to support Canada’s fresh fruit and vegetable supply chain.

CPMA’s recommendations address key priority areas, including building Canada as a ‘Food Superpower’, strengthening North American and international trade, advancing food security infrastructure, increasing produce consumption, addressing workforce needs, reducing food loss and waste, supporting sustainable packaging solutions, and improving regulatory coordination.

The submission emphasizes the need for a whole-of-government approach that recognizes agriculture and food production as strategic economic priorities, supports a competitive and resilient supply chain, and helps ensure Canadians have year-round access to safe, nutritious fresh produce.

CPMA members can contact Shannon Sommerauer, Director of Government Relations, at ssommerauer@cpma.ca for more information about CPMA’s policy priorities and advocacy efforts.”
