Based on several customer requests, as well as what we are learning during farm visits, it is becoming obvious that having a Farming module would be very beneficial. Some farmers use FCC Field Manager Pro, Farm Works and/or other software. Some use spreadsheets, and some keep written records.
We propose to create screens for tracking what you planted, when, in which field, from what seed, what you did to it (herbicide, fungicide, pesticide, etc.), when will it harvest, etc.
We’re told that there isn’t much on the market that does it all … i.e. what PICS does now, plus a Farming Module. So if we add this module, PICS would be truly be a “farm to fork” software package.
Further, we are being told there could be a large market for farms who just do farming and have someone else do the packing and selling. A Web based application for them might be ideal as they could enter the data live and in real time, for a very reasonable fee (i.e. hosted option with no need to purchase software, installation services, servers, etc.). If Farms used the new WebPICS Farming module, we could also allow them to export the data such that their packer/marketer partners who use PICS could import the data … wouldn’t that be cool!
