The Ontario Produce Marketing Association, the Ontario Food Terminal Board, the Toronto Wholesale Produce Association, Farmer’s Market Tenants and FoodShare have partnered to hold the first ever Fresh Fest event at the Ontario Food Terminal, in Toronto on September 22, 2012.
Fresh Fest will raise funds for FoodShare, a non-profit community food organization. FoodShare’s programs include direct fresh produce access, childhood nutrition and education, community cooking and urban agriculture. Working in partnership with Toronto public health and school boards, FoodShare has provided grassroots organizing for 800 student-nutrition programs in which healthy meals are provided to 141,000 students daily.
