When margins matter and productivity drives performance, you can always count on Produce Inventory Control System (PICS) software to continue improving and evolving. Here’s a look at the improvements and updates to made to PICS last month:
- Added a Freight Type table to PICS 3.0 and the ability to specify it in the Inbound and Outbound Load screens. This can be used for things like FTL, LTL, etc.
- Added a Temperature Mode table to PICS 3.0 and the ability to specify it in the Inbound and Outbound Load screens. This can be used for things like SINGLE TEMP, MULTI TEMP, DRY, etc.
- Added a status column beside the list of sales orders on the Stock Lots screen.
- Significantly enhanced PICS 3.0s ability to automatically create GTINs in the stock and alternate unit records.
- Added a Customer, Ship To, Product table and screen to PICS 3.0. It allows you to set up different Hi and Tie values for stock items being shipped to different customer ship-to locations.
Our commitment to improving PICS Software
We’re working every day to improve your PICS experience! Here are the enhancements we made from October – December 2025:
- Added a new Accounting/Create Posted Deposit system control. If set to Y, when an AR Receipt is saved, PICS 3.0 will automatically create a Deposit for that receipt and set that Deposit’s status to Posted. Note that when this happens, the Deposit screen will not open. You can tell it was done because the Deposit # field on the receipt will be filled. This would be very useful if the payments you receive go into the bank individually (electronic payments is one example).
- Added a new Accounting/Auto-Fill Deposit Amount System Control. If set to Y, when adding a receipt, if a customer is chosen and there is only one un-paid item for them, PICS 3.0 will automatically fill the Amount field for the entire receipt and for the row in the grid with that amount, so all you need to do is put in the description and save.
- Changed the Description field on the AR Receipts screen so it can be left blank when tabbing through the screen. It is still a required field, but it will only be checked when the Receipt is saved.
- Added Actual Arrival Date and Time fields to Sales Order Shipping Header.
- The time entry rule for Sales Orders has changed. The time must now be entered in an HH:MM format, and use “Military” time (i.e. 1:00 p.m. is 13:00). The time can also be left blank if desired.
- The wildcard search has been refined such that you can make changes to it while searching, and it will refresh for each change you make. For example, in the stock list, if you type *pot la (for large potatoes), you will see everything in the list which has pot and la somewhere in the description. If you backspace the la, then the list will refresh to show everything with pot.
- We have enhanced the Add/Change inquiry such that when you are in a parent/child screen (like sales orders, purchase orders, work orders etc.), if you click the button when this list is selected, you will get the information for just the selected line. If you click it when something other than the list is selected, you will get information for the parent record.
- We have added a new Administration/Pick List Search Timeout system control. This allows you to set the amount of seconds that the search phrase you type in the header of a column in the pick list stays there. The default is 5 and if you set it to 0 (zero) it will not be cleared. Note that it also gets cleared when you go to a different column.
- We made a major improvement to the wildcard search in the stock list (and it now works in any list!) in PICS 3.0. You can enter multiple groups of characters, and PICS will use all of them to find matching records. For example, typing “* RED GR AL” would return results like ALLISON RED GRAPES — and any other items containing those three-character groups.
