During The Ontario Produce Marketing Association’s first ever Lobby Day, you will have the chance to meet with key decision-makers, including elected representatives, policymakers, and government staff. Lobby Day aims to facilitate open and constructive dialogue, giving you a platform to express your perspectives and influence policy discussions.
There will also be an opportunity in the legislature during Member’s Statements just before Question Period whereby cabinet ministers and MPP’s stand and recognize the individuals and businesses participating in Lobby Day.
The goals of Lobby Days include:
- Introduction of and education for policymakers regarding Ontario’s produce sector
- Establish and deepen relationships with officials
- Advocate for policy changes that benefit our membership
- Raise our industry’s profile
- Networking and connection opportunities among our membership
To Make the Most of Your Participation in Lobby Day
- Researching the Issues: Familiarize yourself with the topics you wish to discuss during your meetings. Understand the current status, relevant legislation, and any proposed changes or initiatives.
- Developing Key Messages: Prepare clear and concise talking points to effectively convey your concerns and suggestions.
- Organize Your Team: If applicable, coordinate with other participants who share similar interests or concerns. Collaborate on your messaging and ensure everyone is well-prepared to maximize impact.
- Respect Engagement: Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor throughout the event. Listen actively to the perspective of others and engage in constructive conversations.
