Safe Food for Canadians Regulations: Timelines – Fresh Fruit or Vegetables

cfia logoThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency has published a helpful timetable for businesses in the fresh produce industry. Follow the link and “Use the timetable to find out when you will need to comply with those requirements of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) related to licensing, preventive control plans (PCP), preventive controls and traceability. The time frames can vary based on your business activity and level of trade.”

Additional information was released from the Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) on January 14, 2019:

“Please click to download a letter from CFIA, 14jan2019_cfia_acia_new_food_regulations-nouveau_reglement-bilingual , which recaps the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) for the fresh fruit and vegetable industry.  We hope that everyone has registered with My CFIA and applied for their SFCR license.” The SFCR regulations are effective January 15, 2019.  We also encourage all members to login to read the newly updated CPMA SFCR Guidance Document as well as the SFCR Topic Updates.
