When we created PICS back in 1989, we made a commitment to continually improve our Produce Inventory Control System (PICS) software AND stay current with the rules and regulations affecting the fresh produce industry. Thirty-five years later we’ve stayed true to our commitment to continuous improvement. PICS 3.0 is a perfect example of our goal to help businesses in the fresh produce industry do business better, streamline operations and improve profitability. Here’s how we made PICS better last month:
- We added 3 new system controls to be used with barcode scanning in PICS 3.0. If the scanner you are using doesn’t have a keyboard, then you can enable these to cause the line save button to be “clicked” when the qty is entered. There is one for shipping, one for receiving and one for counting.
- We enhanced the lot list to show the pack date if a lot was packed, or the received date if it was not.
- We added a column to the list of batches you get when you update a sales order batch.
- We made a change to the Lot selection process in the PICS 3.0 sales order screen. When you save a sales order line, the lot chooser will only come up if there are 2 or more lots for the item. Previously it came up for every line.
- We reworked the GL Transaction screen in PICS 3.0 such that all you need to do is put in the date when adding a transaction. PICS will now create the batch # from the date you enter, and fill the year and period automatically. Further, if you change the date, the date portion of the batch will change automatically to that date. If you change the date portion of the batch #, the date will change to that date automatically. We think this simplifies this screen.
We can help you overcome technology advancement adoption challenges with easy to use, perfectly supported PICS! Start the conversation!
