New System Controls in PICS

Mission = PassionWe’re on a mission to make our Produce Inventory Control System (PICS) software the best it can be by adding new features and system controls every month.

January Improvements to PICS

  • We added a “Remove Un-Posted Lines” button and code to the Work Order screen. Some of our users like to do this when the work order is done, so those un-posted lines don’t clutter up the work order. This is in PICS 3.0 only.
  • There’s a new “Buying/Force Label To Be Entered” system control (PICS 3.0 only) and code to use it. If the system control is set to Y (which is the default), when PO lines are being received, if the label for the line is the same as the “on order label text” system control, PICS will require the user to change the label. The way we envision this being used is that the “on order label text” system control would be set to something like “UNKNOWN – NOT REC’D”. When the receiving is entered, PICS will blank that out, and let the user put in the actual Label. This works fine in cases when the label is not known at time of Purchase Order entry. However, some of our customers pack product into their own label. In this case, the “on order label text” system control would likely be set to the name of their label, and they wouldn’t want to change that (unless they actually receive a different label for something and want to use that). So for this latter case, we suggest this system control be set to N.
  • We added system controls for the email addresses (To, CC and BCC) as well as code for sending Associated IVTR files to the Toronto Wholesale Produce Association directly from PICS (via EmFx). This means the CodeRunner script to send the files is no longer needed.
