Produce Industry Update, by F. Charles Waud… Since the Safe Food for Canadians Act came into effect (January 15, 2020), we are fielding more questions about how PICS software can help meet requirements. There also appear to be several more CFIA recall notifications than we saw in the past. This makes us wonder if they have increased the frequency of inspections since the new law came into effect.

Food Safety, Regulatory and Quality Assurance Workshops by CPMA and NSF Canada… CPMA has partnered with NSF Canada, a division of NSF International and a global leader in the provision of public health and safety risk-based management solutions, to offer Food Safety, Regulatory and Quality Assurance workshops to CPMA members and non-members, beginning in March. The workshops are specifically targeted toward small, and medium-sized local growers, packers and shippers, however all produce supply chain personnel are welcome and encouraged to attend. • Enhanced the Production Board screen. We have added a Qty On Order column. We have changed it such that you can make any and all work orders at the same time by replacing the “Make WO” button with a new “Make Work Order(s)” button. This new button brings forward a screen where you can chose the items you want to make work orders for, as well as change the quantities. Finally, we added a optional capability to print the work orders which are created.
  • Made a few adjustments to the Scotiabank Payment export code. PICS is now able to export payments to Scotiabank and RBC.
  • Added a Notes button to the AP Payments screen
  • Added a GL Transaction inquiry to the GL Accounts screen which uses the new list technology. If you press enter or double click on a row, the GL Transaction screen for that row will be opened.
  • The History and Open Items for Vendor inquiries have been converted to the new list technology. If you press enter or double click on a row, the AP Voucher or Payment screen for that row will be opened.
  • The Cost for Stock/Lot inquiries have been converted to the new list technology.
  • The Reservations for Stock/Lot inquiries have been converted to the new list technology. If you press enter or double click on a row, the Reservation screen for that row will be opened.

  • The Purchase Orders for Stock/Lot inquiries have been converted to the new list technology. If you press enter or double click on a row, the PO screen for that row will be opened.
  • The Bill of Materials for Stock inquiry has been converted to the new list technology. If you press enter or double click on a row, the BOM screen for that row will be opened.

  • Adjusted the program which produces the cursor for the Confirmation of Sale report such that it now contains the weight in the units used for that database. Reports which use smkgpertu should be changed to use smnwpertu and smgwpertu. The report now handles net and gross weight. The system control which contains the weight unit is gcWeightUn. It might be a good idea to add this to the report beside the weight so people know what unit is used.
